All Porcelain Crowns and Bridges

Tooth colored crowns used to be made of porcelain and metal. The porcelain was placed over a metal core to try and simulate the color of your tooth. This restoration crown was then cemented to your tooth. These porcelain fused to metal crowns were good and still are , but with the new technology available today, a crown or bridge can be made entirely of porcelain. This creates a more natural and beautiful restoration.

If you have any crowns with a metal core, sometimes you can see a dark blue line around the gums where the crown is. This is due to the metal shining thru the gum areas. Although the gum tissue is healthy and fine, it doesn't appear that way. The 'all porcelain' crowns have no metal shine thru, thus the result is as natural as can be.

These crowns, just like veneers are bonded to the tooth, creating a very strong hold. All porcelain crowns maintain a translucency that makes them hard to differentiate from natural teeth. Without metal, there is no dark line around the gums.
