A veneer is a custom made shell specially prepared to make your teeth look natural. They are bonded directly to the tooth. The materials used to make veneers include acrylic, composite, and porcelain.

Veneers can be used to close gaps between teeth, reshape crooked or misaligned teeth, lengthen short stubby teeth, or whiten dark stained teeth. Veneers can also be used to restore chipped or cracked teeth to their original natural beauty.

It normally takes two appointments to restore your teeth with veneers. At the first appointment the teeth will be shaped minimally which is usually completed without having to be 'numb' with 'novacaine'. An impression will be taken and the veneers will be fabricated to fit your teeth exactly. At the second appointment, the veneers will be bonded to your teeth with a special adhesive.

Once in place, veneers virtually become a part of your teeth. Just as your natural teeth, veneers require good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits. You can use them just like you would your own teeth, because the bond is extremely strong. The final result is a more natural and beautiful smile.
